Patricia Villegas de Jorge presents her credentials in Portugal

The extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Portugal , Patricia Villegas de Jorge , presented her credentials to His Excellency Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa , President of the Portuguese Republic.

Following the formal presentation of credentials, President Rebelo de Sousa held a private meeting with Ambassador Villegas de Jorge , where they discussed key issues for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the ambassador extended warm greetings to the Portuguese people on behalf of Dominican President Luis Abinader Corona, reaffirming the two nations' commitment to diplomatic dialogue, cultural cooperation, and economic exchange.

After the audience, the ambassador was introduced to the cabinet members accompanying the Portuguese head of state , in a gesture of welcome and institutional cordiality. The Dominican diplomat was accompanied at the ceremony by Counselor Verceli Aguirre and First Secretary Francisco Hidalgo.

The ceremony marks the beginning of a new era in relations between the Dominican Republic and Portugal , guided by a shared interest in strengthening historical ties and projecting new opportunities for collaboration in strategic areas such as education, tourism, innovation, and cultural diplomacy.
