Querétaro: Judicial Election and Commitment to Innovation

Querétaro rules out prohibition for judicial elections, while the government promotes innovation and technological development with new alliances.

Querétaro is preparing for the judicial elections on June 1st without the application of the Prohibition Law, a decision that underscores the confidence of the public, while the local government strengthens its commitment to innovation and economic development through new initiatives.

The judicial elections on June 1st in Querétaro will be held without the implementation of the Prohibition Law. This decision, which contrasts with the position of other states that do implement the measure, reflects a policy that prioritizes the normality of civic life during the electoral process. By not restricting the sale of alcohol, the Querétaro government demonstrates confidence in the civic maturity of its population, which could foster an environment of greater peace and participation. This distinction in public policy underscores the differing risk assessments and governance approaches across states.

In the area of economic and technological development, Querétaro continues to consolidate its position as a hub of innovation. Mayor Felifer Macías led the Innovation Council session within the framework of BLOQUE SUMMIT 2025. The main objective of this Council is to promote direct links between national and international companies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and technology-based startups. A tangible example of this strategy is the $3.6 billion investment by Cloud HQ in Querétaro. Cloud HQ's multi-million-dollar investment and the drive for innovation through the Innovation Council demonstrate Querétaro's clear political strategy to consolidate itself as a technological and economic hub. This policy seeks to attract foreign investment and foster local entrepreneurship, which has significant implications for the region's long-term economic development, generating employment and diversifying its productive base.

Regarding electoral participation, 132 Querétaro citizens cast their votes early. This INE initiative allowed people with disabilities and primary caregivers to exercise their right to vote between May 12 and 21. The implementation of early voting for specific groups is a political measure that seeks to guarantee the inclusion and right to vote of all citizens. This action demonstrates a commitment to electoral accessibility, ensuring that physical or logistical barriers do not impede the democratic participation of vulnerable segments of the population.

"Querétaro is positioning itself as a benchmark for innovation and development, attracting investments that transform our economy and create opportunities for all."
