Samuel García restructures his cabinet: the key changes

Nuevo León Governor Samuel García announced a cabinet reshuffle in a key political move. Javier Navarro is leaving the position of General Secretary of Government, being replaced by Miguel "Mike" Flores, in a series of changes that also affect the Education and Economy ministries.

In a move aimed at reconfiguring his administration's political operations, Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda confirmed a series of significant changes to his top-level cabinet. The most notable change is the departure of Javier Navarro Velasco from the position of General Secretary of Government, one of the most politically influential positions in the state.

The new head of domestic policy in Nuevo León will be Miguel Ángel "Mike" Flores, who assumes the position of General Secretary of Government. This change is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the governor's political operations for the second half of his term.

The restructuring was not limited to the Government Secretariat. The changes announced by the governor include other key areas of state administration:

  • Ministry of Education: Sofialeticia Morales leaves office and will now coordinate a new "Educational Legacy" project. Juan Paura García will take her place.
  • Ministry of Economy: Betsabé Rocha Nieto is appointed as the new head.
  • Executive Office of the Governor: Former local representative Mariela Saldívar arrives, replacing Eduardo Gaona.

These adjustments to Samuel García's team are being interpreted in political circles as a move to consolidate a more reliable and operational team to face future challenges, including the complex negotiations with the local Congress and the government's flagship infrastructure projects.

The appointment of Miguel Flores, a political operative close to the governor, to the Ministry of Government suggests a search for greater control and a more direct line in the execution of the government's agenda. Meanwhile, the departure of figures such as Javier Navarro and Sofialeticia Morales, although they have been reassigned to other roles, marks the end of a period in the MC administration.

"Miguel Ángel Flores assumes the position of Secretary General of Government, replacing Javier Navarro." – Official Press Release from the Government of Nuevo León.

These changes are taking place in a context of political realignments at the local and national levels, and will be key to defining the direction and management capacity of the Nuevo León government in the coming years.
