The PSPV remains calm about the 'Abalos case' because the former minister was the one who confronted Puig.

The PSPV remains calm about the 'Abalos case' because the former minister was the one who confronted Puig.

The Valencian Socialists are trying to distance themselves from the dangerous conversations between Santos Cerdán, Koldo García, and José Luis Ábalos. Yesterday, the Valencian Government delegate and PSOE Secretary for Equality, Pilar Bernabé, described the audio recordings as "disgusting, nauseating, and repugnant," and the PSPV (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) ombudsman, José Muñoz, attempted to establish a firewall: when Ábalos was the PSOE's Organization Secretary, his relationship with the Valencian federation "was never very fluid." And this was despite Muñoz being the head of Organization of the second largest socialist federation in Spain at the time.

The now Socialist parliamentary spokesperson cited this poor relationship between the families yesterday to point out that the PSPV is "not at all worried" about possible ramifications of the plot in the Valencian Community. In this regard, he argued that "the political family that stood up to Ximo Puig was the Ábalos family." He was referring to the attempt by the Abalos family (then also Sanchistas) to remove the then president of the Generalitat from the party's General Secretariat. They were close to achieving this with Rafa García. For Muñoz, the PSPV is now led by "a new generation" of politicians, "proud heirs of Ximo Puig," with no ties to Ábalos.

However, it cannot be ignored that the conversations collected by the UCO frequently feature the Valencian businessman José Ruz of the company LIC (Levantina, Engineering and Construction) or that one of the audio recordings hinted at the idea of asking the Alicante leader Alejandro Soler for help in assisting Koldo's wife.

In this regard, while Compromís called Pedro Sánchez's explanations insufficient and Vox demanded that the Prime Minister be brought directly into the dock, the PP's ombudsman in the Corts, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, wanted to point out that it was the PSPV (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) that brought Ábalos back onto its 2023 lists to "grant him immunity or force him to remain silent." He did so as the second-in-command, just behind Minister Diana Morant.

The PP recalls that Ábalos was on the PSPV's 2023 list, behind Minister Morant.

Yesterday, José Muñoz justified this prominent position by referring to the generosity that the "Fist and Rose" brand usually displays toward the Organization Secretaries, a "very complicated" position that requires "significant personal strain."

Furthermore, the Popular Party leader indicated that it was Santos Cerdán, then Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, who intervened to force alternative candidates to Diana Morant to withdraw their candidacy to lead the PSPV.
