Trump and Musk finalize their divorce with an all-out war between them.

Trump and Musk finalize their divorce with an all-out war between them.

The world's richest man accuses the US president of being implicated in the Epstein case after a social media dispute that threatens to destabilize the White House.

It hasn't taken a week to confirm that the divorce between the richest man in the world, Elon Musk , and the president of the largest economy on the planet, Donald Trump , is anything but amicable, as both tried to portray last week .

Yesterday, Americans witnessed a live, minute-by-minute battle on social media between the two men that threatens to destabilize the White House if it is confirmed, as Musk suggested, that the US president's name appears in Epstein 's papers.

The confrontation began to escalate after Trump yesterday called Musk "hostile" and suggested he was suffering from a kind of "withdrawal syndrome" from being away from the Oval Office. The statements did not sit well with Tesla and SpaceX , among other companies, although he was the one who opened fire first.

In fact, it was criticism of Trump's budget and tax reforms , now before the Senate , that prompted Musk's departure from the White House last week , after nearly four months at the helm of the Department of Government Efficiency ( DOGE ). The two leaders then orchestrated an exit from the Oval Office filled with friendly gestures and a promise that Musk would remain a presidential advisor.

Four days later, the billionaire posted a message on social media calling Trump's tax plan a "repugnant abomination." He even went so far as to say that those who voted for the American president "should be ashamed." The White House then downplayed the remarks, asserting that the businessman's discontent was nothing new.

And that would have been the end of it if the president hadn't responded yesterday, stating that he was "very disappointed" with Musk's behavior . "This isn't the first time... people leave my administration, and some even become hostile. They leave, and when they wake up in the morning, the glamour is gone, the whole world is different, and they become hostile."

The response was immediate, and Musk responded almost immediately via social media, claiming that Trump is "ungrateful" and that without his help he would never have won the election, referring to the hundreds of millions the world's richest man spent on the Republican's campaign.

The fight escalated, with accusations being exchanged on each social network. In Trump's case, it was via Truth Social , where he claimed that " Elon was burning out and I asked him to leave; he just went CRAZY" after the withdrawal of aid for the purchase of electric cars. In fact, as if that weren't enough, he added that the best way to "save billions of dollars in our budget is to cancel Elon's subsidies and government contracts. I was always surprised Biden didn't do it!"

Musk fumes and fires back: "Time to drop the big bombshell. Trump appears in the Epstein papers . That's the real reason they haven't been made public." Shortly after, he upped the ante: "Save this post for the future. The truth will come out."

This refers to the case of American magnate Jeffrey Epstein, accused of child sex trafficking and decades of abuse through a network of collaborators and influential clients. It should be remembered that the US president has already been convicted of sexually abusing columnist E. Jean Carroll and, subsequently, of defaming her.
