Autonomous boat from AGH University of Science and Technology on the podium of a prestigious competition

The AI class competition included three events: AI Taxi, AI Docking and AI Slalom, which tested the performance of advanced algorithms and autonomous navigation systems in realistic water conditions.
While completing the designated courses, not only time mattered, but also, above all, precision in maneuvering. The organizers ensured a high level of difficulty – for example, the backward slalom, which required exceptional precision and stability. As always, the dynamic competitions were preceded by a detailed technical inspection, which the AGH team was among the first to successfully complete.
Participating in the competition not only provides teams with an opportunity to compete, but also to listen to inspiring TechTalks – presentations of the technologies used in their boats by selected teams. It provides a valuable platform for exchanging experiences and sharing knowledge.
"Although the autonomous version of Celka was created with this specific event in mind, we have been developing our main autonomous boat, Barka, in parallel for years. The launch in Monaco allowed us to expand our existing experience and test new solutions in practice," said the AGH Solar Boat team.
The international Monaco Energy Boat Challenge is organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco. Its goal is to promote innovation and sustainability in sailing. The 2025 edition took place from July 1st to 5th and attracted over 40 teams from 20 countries. Boats competed in four categories: energy class, open sea class, sealab, and AI class.
