Exams for the new model for admission to upper secondary education begin

MEXICO CITY (apro).- In the first operation of the “My Right, My Place” platform, the new model for admission to upper secondary education in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico, 272,726 applicants were successfully registered, reported the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).
In fact, the online application process for the entrance exam to the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) or the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) began this Friday the 13th. Applicants will take the test this Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th, as well as on the following June 20th, 21st, and 22nd, depending on the assigned date.
According to the SEP, the more than 272,000 registered applicants represent a "historic advance" in "universal and equitable" access to this level of education in the country's metropolitan area.
The agency added that this mechanism, the Upper Secondary Education Coordination Space (ECOEMS), is part of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo's 31st campaign promise, which is to increase spaces at this level of education.
The ECOEMS is the new mechanism implemented by the SEP following the disappearance of the Metropolitan Commission of Public Institutions of Upper Secondary Education (Comipems), promoted by President Sheinbaum Pardo.
The platformThe SEP emphasized that the "My Right, My Place" platform, launched on March 18, offers guidance, geolocation of educational options, informative videos, official instructions, and a support center for applicants.
The registration involved four types of participation:
- Direct access
- Access with exam (IPN/UNAM)
- Mixed access
- Untimely.
Registration was open from March 18 to April 15 for the first three options. The fourth, late registration, will take place next August, with the aim of ensuring that no student is excluded from the right to education.
SEP data indicates the following percentages of highest registration participation:
- Mixed, with 124,181 records (45.5%)
- Direct access, with 111,339 (40.9%)
- Exam, with 37,206 (13.6%)
The SEP explained that, during the registration process, support and guidance mechanisms were activated to assist students who did not have access to connectivity or computer equipment at home.
These initiatives involved the PILARES (Working Groups) of Mexico City, the State of Mexico Care Centers, and the Mexico City Institute of Higher Secondary Education (IEMS). Visits were also made to secondary schools to facilitate their integration with their own technological equipment.
The resultsOn Tuesday, August 19, the ECOEMS will publish the assignment results in the Electronic Results Gazette on the My Right My Place website www.miderechomilugar.gob.mx , which will already include all students who participated in the process, except for those who submitted late.
The aforementioned gazette will also provide information on the locations and dates for enrollment at the assigned educational institution, as well as the documents and other requirements that applicants must meet.
