Here's how you can prevent Google AI from spying on your WhatsApp conversations.

Here's how you can prevent Google AI from spying on your WhatsApp conversations.

Artificial Intelligence has become so deeply embedded in our lives that every new invention, platform, or update includes this technology in some form or another.

While this has several advantages, as AI can perform many tasks and duties for us, streamlining work and taking the burden of these responsibilities off our shoulders, aside from the fact that this makes us somewhat "dumber," we must not forget a key aspect: privacy.

And even though AI is a machine, we mustn't forget that it's intelligent, and that, at least for now, there's always a person behind it "controlling" it to some extent. That's why if we open our doors wide to AI, we're letting it access all our conversations, photos, and much more personal information that we wouldn't knowingly let anyone see.

Tech companies aren't trying to force adoption of this technology in their apps and services, but there are several cases in which we can refuse or at least reduce the integration of AI into our accounts . For example, in Gmail we now have the option to refuse Gemini access to our email.

Now, Google has activated this Tuesday the integration of Gemini into mobile apps like WhatsApp and Messages on Android , with which it aims to "update" the way the assistant interacts with these apps, although users can disable it if they wish.

Despite the tech giant 's insistence that Gemini cannot read messages sent through WhatsApp, as they are end-to-end encrypted, many users have wanted to know how to disable this change implemented by Google so that the chatbot cannot access personal data.

Steps to follow
  1. Open the Gemini app and go to Settings .
  2. Go to the Applications option in the options menu.
  3. Look for the WhatsApp option and disable it.

The integration is enabled regardless of whether the user has Gemin's App Activity option enabled or disabled, as Google warned in the emails it sent to users informing them of this new solution, so you'll have to disable it manually if you don't want the AI to spy on you.
