Aguirre presents a preliminary list of 60 players for the Nations League

This Monday, February 24, the technical director of the Mexican soccer team , Javier "Vasco" Aguirre , presented to Concacaf a Pre-list of 60 players for the Nations League, where El Tricolor will face Canada in the semifinals of the Final Four. The duel will be played in March at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, with the goal of making it to the final.
Among the notable names in this pre-list is the return of Hirving Lozano, who recently left PSV Eindhoven to join San Diego FC in the MLS. In addition, the squad provides a glimpse of an explosive attack with players such as Santiago Giménez, Raúl Jiménez, Julián Quiñones, César Huerta, Alexis Vega, Henry Martín, Gilberto Mora and Roberto Alvarado.
As for Liga MX clubs, Chivas is the institution that contributes the most players with a total of seven elements. Cruz Azul, América and Monterrey follow with six players each, while Tigres contributes with five. Meanwhile, Atlas has two players, the same number as Xolos, San Luis and León. On the other hand, Necaxa, Mazatlán, Juárez, Gallos, Puebla and Santos do not have any representatives in this pre-list.
Another player who remains in the coaching staff's sights for his experience and contributions in previous years is goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, despite not having a good moment at his club in Portugal.
In addition, players such as Orbelín Pineda, Luis Chávez, César Montes and Johan Vásquez from European football remain.
From this preliminary call, Aguirre will have to reduce the group until the final list of 23 players is formed who will be seeking the Nations League title. Mexico will face Canada in a key duel that will serve as a thermometer on the road to the 2026 World Cup.
