Mexican boxer Saúl Canelo Álvarez said he has put the disappointing fight he had in May against Cuban William Scull in the past, and is now focused on his next fight against American Terence Crawford, which he said will be historic, as he is confident he can extend his legacy as the undisputed super middleweight champion.

It was a disappointment because I wanted to fight, but that takes two fighters. I've put that behind me and now I'm 100 percent focused on what's to come in this new fight, which I'm sure will go down in the history books of this sport. I'm very excited for this duel , the Guadalajara, Jalisco native said yesterday at the first press conference before the matchup, which will take place on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, home of the NFL's Raiders.

In the first face-to-face between the two fighters, which was streamed by Ring Magazine from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the American wasn't intimidated by his opponent and promised that this would be a different kind of fight. "I heard he wants to fight, I've done it my whole life, and I'm not going to run away. I'm not lying. It's a new fight, it's my time, and I'm going to win ."

After these words, the Mexican, who will be defending his World Boxing Council, World Boxing Organization, World Boxing Association, and World Boxing Federation super middleweight titles, responded: “He's a great fighter, but he's not Canelo . He won't beat me, don't worry about that. He should be worried about himself because I'm very dangerous. This is going to be one of the best fights of my career, and I'm very motivated.”

Crawford wasn't far behind, stating, "I'm sure those belts are coming home with me. I'll take them, and there's nothing you can do about it on fight night, I promise ."

You can see them, but it will be difficult for you to take them , replied the 34-year-old from Guadalajara.

The confrontation was also attended by Turki Alalshikh, president of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia and organizer of the fight, who indicated that to avoid what happened in the fight against Scull, where the Cuban connected with few blows, in this duel and in the next ones we will give an extra bonus for knockouts .

The 37-year-old American will be undefeated in this fight, boasting a record of 41 wins, 31 knockouts, and zero losses. He was the undisputed welterweight and super lightweight champion, and is looking to become the first boxer in history to win all four major titles in three different weight classes.

Meanwhile, Canelo, who boasts a record of 63 wins, 39 by knockout, two draws, and two losses, and has been a champion in various weight classes, will seek to retain his four super middleweight titles, where he remains undefeated.

Alcaraz is already in the Queen's semifinals

London. Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz did his part yesterday, defeating Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech 7-5, 6-4, and advancing to the semifinals of the Queen's ATP 500 tournament in London, just 10 days before the start of the Wimbledon Open, where he will try to defend his double crown.

After a marathon run in the previous round on English grass, the world number two secured his 40th win of the season (his 16th in a row, extending his career-best winning streak) in one hour and 20 minutes against the combative Frenchman (world number 80), who was two points away from taking the first set.

Alcaraz, 22, recovered his breath after the three-and-a-half-hour battle against Jaume Munar and gave his all in key moments to advance to the semifinals, where he will seek a ticket to another final after winning in Rome and Roland Garros.

I don't feel invincible. Obviously, victories give me confidence. Right now, it's very high, and it's something I feel on the court , said the winner of the last two Wimbledon titles and the 2023 Queen's champion.

A lot of work

The Murcian played with skill and continued to build up his serve, just like the Frenchman. As the decisive games approached, in the eleventh, Rinderknech felt the pressure from Alcaraz, who continues to show his perfect adaptation to the grass, looking ahead to a third consecutive Wimbledon.

The five-time major champion capitalized on a pair of errors from his opponent, earned the break and then the set. Imposing his style, the El Palmar native smelled blood again when he aggressively pressed in the fifth game. With that advantage and hitting his first serves, it was enough for Alcaraz, without facing a single break point, to finish the match.

The Iberian will face his veteran compatriot Roberto Bautista, 37, this Saturday. Bautista caused a surprise by eliminating Dane Holger Rune 7-6 (7/5), 6-7 (4/7) and 6-2.

The other semifinal will pit Briton Jack Draper, currently world number six, against Czech Jiri Lehecka, who is ranked 30th in the ATP rankings.
