Charros suffer another defeat, this time against Monclova in 12 innings.

The Charros de Jalisco's slump continued on Friday with another defeat, this time to the Acereros de Monclova, 11-9 in 12 innings, in the opening game of the retro series played at the Pan American Stadium. The team, coached by Benjamín Gil, showed their grit once again, but failed to avoid their 24th loss of the season, in a game that lasted more than five hours.
Despite a moving tribute to the 1971 championship team and the debut of commemorative uniforms, the Guadalajara team couldn't break its negative momentum. The Albiazul team squandered several leads throughout the game and ended up paying dearly for its mistakes in extra innings, where a double by Aldrem Corredor and an RBI single by Fernando Flores sealed the victory for the visitors.
Pavel Hernández, in his second start with Charros, had a performance to forget: he allowed nine hits and seven runs in just three and a third innings, without a strikeout. Despite the efforts of the bullpen, which used up to eight relievers, Jalisco was unable to stop Monclova's offense.
Charros had taken an early lead with runs in the first and second innings, but the inconsistency in the pitching resurfaced. A five-run rally in the third inning gave the home team life, and they even retook the lead in the fifth and sixth innings. However, the Steelers tied the score in the seventh and ultimately won in the twelfth inning.
The Jalisco team continues to struggle and remains behind in the North Zone standings. This Saturday, they will look to avoid another setback when the second game of the series is played at 6:00 PM. Luis Payán will start for Jalisco, while Christian Young will take the mound for Monclova.
