The match is part of Matchday 9 of the 2025 Apertura and finds both teams in opposing positions. Toluca , the defending champion, is aiming to move into third place in the standings, provided América doesn't defeat Monterrey in its match.

Chivas , meanwhile, sits in 12th place with eight points out of a possible 24. Gabriel Milito's team arrives motivated after defeating América in the Clásico Nacional and tying Tigres midweek. In contrast, the Diablos arrive with two consecutive wins.

The match between the red and white team and the scarlet team will be played on the afternoon of this Saturday, September 20, at Akron Stadium and will be broadcast exclusively via streaming .
