Club World Cup: Palmeiras and Porto drew 0-0 in the closing match of Group A.

In New Jersey, Palmeiras outplayed Porto, but couldn't translate it into action. With this result, and following the draw between Inter Miami and Al Ahly, all four teams in Group A each have one point.
Brazil's Palmeiras and Portugal's Porto drew 0-0 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey in the opening matchday of Group A of the 2025 Club World Cup . The result left all teams in the group with one point, as in the other match of the day, Inter Miami and Al Ahly had also drawn goalless .
The Portuguese team, led by Argentine Martín Anselmi , had Alan Varela as a starter and Tomás and Nehuén Pérez came on in the second half.
For Palmeiras, led by Abel Ferreira , Agustín Giay and Aníbal Moreno started as starters, while José López earned minutes from the bench.

Gentleness
The match was even, with chances at both ends. Porto's first clear chance fell to Joao Mario in the second minute, a one-on-one that goalkeeper Weverton saved well . Later, a cross from Rodrigo Mora came close to opening the scoring.
Palmeiras responded at the close of the first half with one of the match's clearest chances. In the first minute of stoppage time, a series of shots in the six-yard box by Estevão , Mauricio , and Richard Ríos were thwarted by goalkeeper Claudio Ramos and a defender who saved on the line.
In the second half, Porto came close again through a set piece: Zé Pedro headed in a corner taken by Varela, but the ball went just over the crossbar.

Gentleness
Palmeiras, meanwhile, had their best chance in the 33rd minute, with a header from Murilo Cerqueiro that hit the post.
With this draw, and the other 0-0 in the group, Group A of the Club World Cup was completely level after the first matchday, anticipating a close fight for qualification.
