Domènec Torrent reaches an agreement to become Chivas' technical director.

White smoke in Guadalajara. The Chivas board reached an agreement with Domènec Torrent to become the team's new head coach for the 2025 Apertura Tournament.

Sources close to EL INFORMADOR confirmed that the 62-year-old Spanish coach has been chosen by the red-and-white board to take over the Guadalajara bench .

Chivas' interest in Torrent began after the manager left Atlético de San Luis on April 29. Negotiations between the two parties subsequently began.

After speaking remotely, the Guadalajara board held a meeting with the Spanish coach to discuss his requests and reach a financial agreement.

Both parties subsequently agreed on the salary ; however, the coach made some requests known, such as reinforcements and the freedom to use his coaching staff.

After 14 days of negotiations, Guadalajara's board decided to give the Catalan coach the nod , meaning he will be in charge of leading the red-and-white team during the 2025 Apertura Tournament.

By closing the deal with Domènec Torrent, Chivas sporting director Javier Mier achieved his goal of hiring Guadalajara's new coach before the start of preseason training, which will begin next Wednesday, May 21.

Pep Guardiola's former assistant coach was on the Atlético de San Luis bench during the 2024 Apertura and 2025 Clausura seasons. He officiated a total of 38 matches, with a record of 17 wins, 4 draws, and 17 losses.

In his first season (Apertura 2024), Domènec Torrent managed to lead Atlético de San Luis to the semifinals , being eliminated by Rayados de Monterrey in the run-up to the final.

In his second and final tournament with the Potosí team, the results were not on his side, finishing 15th in the standings and out of the Play-In spots.
