Mirandés beat Oviedo, who missed a penalty, and will defend their dream at the Tartiere.

Alberto Reina and Raúl Fernández allow Mirandés to continue dreaming of the feat of debuting in the top flight of Spanish football. The captain scored the only goal in a match in which the goalkeeper saved a penalty in the 80th minute. The referee, after a VAR warning, awarded the maximum penalty for a foul on Hassan , but Colombatto missed his shot.

The home side thus secured a victory they will look to capitalize on next Saturday at the Carlos Tartiere. For the Asturians, it would be their second consecutive blow in the playoff, after Espanyol blocked their path in the final.

Mirandés' lightning-fast start was rewarded early on. Captain Reina headed home a cross from Iker Benito , who never lost faith in the play, just before the first three minutes of the match. The wingback took advantage of the Oviedo defense's poor clearance to spark the move that would send Anduva into a frenzy.

From then on, the Burgos side perfectly controlled an Oviedo side that was terribly timid until the final stretch of the first half. Mirandés even had a chance to draw even more blood through a shot from Reina's corner that was easily blocked by Aarón Escandell .

The visitors' rush to head into the locker room with the score at least level had no effect. With their opponents persistently looking for a goal, Urko Izeta had a great chance to make it 2-0, but Escandell thwarted it with a brilliant display of reflexes. The move spurred Mirandés, who decided to push their lines a bit further midway through a second half filled with chances. Nothing much happened until the penalty, the full consequences of which will be revealed after the second leg.
