"We are working together to develop and promote sports and physical activity in Saltillo, and above all, to ensure that high-performance athletes have the necessary support from all three levels of government," the mayor said after the meeting .
Díaz González emphasized that one of the pillars of his administration has been to make sports a municipal priority, which is why he created the Municipal Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, a decentralized public organization with legal and financial autonomy, which already has its Governing Board in place.
During the meeting, the council member noted that joint efforts will be focused on the preparation , training, and physical and technical strengthening of Saltillo athletes, with a view to their participation in international competitions. "There's great news coming for Saltillo sports," he announced.
One of the most notable programs is "Activate Your Park," an initiative that has brought together socially responsible companies to rehabilitate public spaces, supported by the City Council and sports and cultural promoters. As an example, Díaz presented the case of Plaza Mirasierra Spurs, a project supported by NBA player Harrison Barnes , who contributed $60,000. The total investment amounted to 3.5 million pesos, benefiting more than 12,000 people in the area.
Rommel Pacheco described this initiative as a successful public policy, combining citizen, business, and government efforts to transform the urban environment through sports.
The mayor also recalled that, since the beginning of his administration, he introduced the " For the Love of Sports" strategy, focused on promoting the work of coaches and community leaders within the neighborhoods, encouraging sports practice and developing local talent to represent Mexico internationally.
Finally, he announced that work is underway with the State Government on an ambitious project to strengthen sports infrastructure, which will be announced soon and will mark a turning point in the development of sports in Saltillo.
