The start, hopeful

Although the coveted gold medal was not won, the start of Yucatecan sports in the 2025 National Olympics, featuring table tennis, was seen as encouraging.
On Saturday, on the first official day of competition, in Apizaco, Tlaxcala, Yucatán, the team went to bed with a haul of nine medals: three silver and six bronze.
The bronze medals went to the U-13 women's team with Morayle Lovo, Isabella Barreto, and Lucía Reyes; the U-13 men's team with Mateo Sánchez, Emmanuel García, and Tito Sánchez; the U-19 team with Mariana Noz, Grisele Segovia, Mariana Álvarez, and Abigail Pech; and the U-13 women's doubles team with Morayle Lovo and Isabella Barreto, and the U-15 women's doubles team with Alejandro Álvarez and Emmanuel Cardoz.
The silver medals went to the U-19 men's duo of Eli Martín and Emiliano Villagrán, and, in the same division, to the duo of Mariana Noz and Grisel Segovia, while the third place went to the U-11 team with Lucía González, Jimena Mireles, Regina Elías, and Danahé Figueroa.
In the 3x3 basketball category, the team of Victoria Solís, Camila Tobilla, Andrea León and Addison May was eliminated by Chihuahua after losing 8-7.
