This is the new Chevrolet Captiva EV: a Chinese-made electric SUV with a refreshed design and long range.

General Motors confirmed the launch of a new electric SUV in Brazil , resuming the strategy of using well-known brand names.

This time, the model will be called Captiva , a name already used in Mexico and now adopted by this new vehicle of Chinese origin.

Although the model's technical details have yet to be officially revealed, Chevrolet Brazil posted on its Instagram account that the SUV has already begun arriving in the country.

Local media have also seen it being tested, alongside the Spark , with light camouflage and a message that anticipates: “Soon, your life will be more electric.”

During GM 's centenary in Brazil , celebrated in January, a preview of the Spark EUV —a version of the Baojun Yep —was presented, which will also be coming to that country.

For its part, the new Captiva EV will be a reinterpretation of the Wuling Starlight S , a mid-size SUV developed by one of GM 's partners in China , along with SAIC .

This model measures 4.74 meters long, 1.89 meters wide and 1.68 meters high , with a wheelbase of 2.80 meters.

Its design will be adapted to Chevrolet 's visual language, with slimmer headlights, a grille bearing the brand's classic emblem, and subtle tweaks to the rear.

The interior will feature a floating screen above the dashboard, which will control infotainment, navigation, and vehicle configuration functions, minimizing physical buttons.

In China , the Starlight S is offered in color combinations ranging from white and beige to black and brown.

In terms of performance, it has a 204 hp electric motor that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds , reaches up to 175 km/h and is powered by a 60 kWh battery that offers 510 km of autonomy under the CLTC cycle.

A full charge takes 10 hours on alternating current ( 6.6 kW ), while fast charging from 30% to 80% can be done in just 20 minutes.

With this model, Chevrolet reinforces its strategy of importing electric vehicles manufactured in China , as it has already done with Groove, Aveo, Cavalier and Onix .
