Which three South American teams can qualify for the World Cup this Tuesday?

The South American Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be played for the first time in three countries—the United States, Mexico, and Canada—are coming to a close, and this Tuesday, June 10, will feature a matchday that could confirm at least three more qualifiers: Ecuador, Paraguay, and Brazil.
The five matches will be played this Tuesday: Bolivia and Chile will face each other in El Alto starting at 5:00 p.m.; Uruguay and Venezuela will meet in Montevideo starting at 8:00 p.m.; Argentina will host Colombia in Buenos Aires starting at 9:00 p.m.; Brazil will face Paraguay in São Paulo starting at 9:45 p.m.; and Peru will play Ecuador in Lima starting at 10:30 p.m.
Ecuador and Paraguay have already secured their place in the playoffs, and with a win against Peru and Brazil, respectively, they would secure their place, provided Venezuela doesn't win their match, or at least a draw if the Vinotinto loses. However, if Ecuador, Paraguay, and Venezuela both lose, the gap between the top two and the other team will be six points out of six at stake.
Brazil can also qualify if it beats Paraguay , in which case it will have to wait. But the five-time champions, the only country to participate in every World Cup since 1930, also need Venezuela to avoid a victory in the opening round. Furthermore, if Bolivia doesn't win, Brazil secures a spot in the top seven even with a defeat to La Albirroja. Seventh place, as is known, is the playoff, where the South American team will await the winner of a semifinal featuring teams from Africa, Asia, Oceania, and CONCACAF.
Further down the standings are Uruguay and Colombia in fifth and sixth place respectively with 21 points. Venezuela has 18 and Bolivia 14. Peru (11) and Chile (10) are practically eliminated. La Celeste and the Colombian national team need a good result to determine qualification in the final double qualifying round next September. Meanwhile, the playoffs are currently between Venezuela and Bolivia.
After Tuesday, the picture will become much clearer. The only concrete fact is that Argentina is not only the only team that has qualified so far, but even if they lose their next three matches, they will remain at the top of the South American Qualifiers standings.
