Not sleeping properly has become a problem affecting many people. Fatigue, mental overload, and screen time have played a role, and an expert has unveiled a treatment for getting adequate rest, even taking action early in the morning. What does it involve?

The first thing you should keep in mind is that getting quality sleep will greatly benefit your body and even allow you to perform your activities in the best possible conditions.

For this reason , Jana Fernández, an expert on these topics, spoke with Bea Magro's podcast on Instagram in a space where she recommended a habit that you should incorporate into your life.

(See more: What does it mean for a person not to have social media, according to psychology?) The specialist emphasizes sleep hygiene, a circumstance that will allow for restful sleep. “It's not just about what we do right before bed, but how we've lived the previous ten hours,” she said. “Each body has its own chronotype. Some people are more morning people and others more evening people, but we all have a natural schedule when we fall asleep and another when we tend to wake up spontaneously. Just by observing this, we would gain a lot,” she added.

For this reason, Fernández suggested it's important to pay attention to all the signs your body may be displaying. "If your body is asking you to rest at eight or nine at night, you have to listen to it. Trying to follow someone else's rhythm or conforming to what is socially considered 'normal' only hinders your rest," he emphasized.

What are three tips for getting a restful night's sleep?

The Mayo Clinic, through its website, released a series of recommendations to help you achieve better sleep quality: 1. Review the foods you eat before bed. The aforementioned institution emphasized that, if possible, you should go to bed with a very full stomach. This is because heavy or abundant meals can cause discomfort. Reduce your consumption of nicotine, caffeine, and alcohol, as they can have stimulating effects on your body.

Try to keep your bedroom clean, dark, and quiet. “Exposure to light at night can make it harder for you to fall asleep. Avoid prolonged use of light-emitting screens just before bedtime,” they emphasized.

3. Try to avoid naps

While they can help you through long days, naps can impact your nighttime sleep. Therefore, you should reduce them or even try to take them during the day.
