Cockroaches are insects that can commonly appear in your home . This is often due to the accumulation of food or waste in your home, but there's also a strange reason why they invade certain areas of the house. What attracts them, and how can you keep them away from your home?
According to information published by Raid, a well-known brand of insecticide products, they are an omnivorous species , "which means they eat both plants and animals ." In this sense, it was confirmed that they particularly like starch, sweets, fatty foods, and meats, but they are not very selective when it comes to eating. "They will eat almost anything that is derived from something that has once been a living organism, for example, plants and animals. This includes cardboard boxes, book covers, wallpaper glue, stamps, leather, feces, nails, hair, toothpaste, soap, their own peeling skin, and even other cockroaches," they added. Cockroaches have a diverse food source. This can become a means of transport through which they can transfer bacteria to food or even kitchen items when they walk on them. This can cause food poisoning, diarrhea, and other illnesses in humans. (See more: The plant that can fill your house with cockroaches because they thrive in it.) "Some species of cockroaches emit a scented pheromone in their feces to attract mates and let other cockroaches know they've found a good place to nest and eat . When cockroach populations are large, these scented secretions can be detected by humans and can also leave an unpleasant taste in the food we eat," they noted.
