The small Spanish town the Mirror recommends visiting: "The British still don't know about it."

Spain remains one of the top holiday destinations for Britons: In 2023 alone, 17.8 million British nationals visited our shores, most of them seeking sun and sand.

In fact, 21% of all British trips abroad are to Spain, according to statistics from the UK Office for National Statistics.

That's why the British press is constantly recommending places to visit within our borders. This Sunday, the Daily Mirror published a report recommending a visit to a relatively unknown location for Britons.

This is Empuriabrava , in Girona: "It's a small town of 8,000 inhabitants with a lot to offer. Some call it the 'Venice of Spain,' but it has a completely different atmosphere," the text says.

"It's located on the Costa Brava, and while it's very quiet during the colder months, in the summer it welcomes thousands of visitors from all over the peninsula and neighboring countries. Surprisingly, despite its small population, Empuriabrava welcomes around 80,000 people during the peak season," the report continues.

"In addition to being one of the most attractive tourist destinations on the Costa Brava, at least for me, it's also one of the few towns where you can stroll peacefully without crowds. Yes, the perfect summer retreat for those looking to relax while enjoying the many amenities it offers to both locals and tourists," concludes the Mirror article.
