FvD member Van Meijeren resigns from corona inquiry committee

Van Meijeren says that he was refused to interrogate a series of leading figures for 'half an hour to an hour'. He mentions former Prime Minister Mark Rutte and ministers Ferd Grapperhaus (Justice) and Hugo de Jonge (Public Health). "After a heated discussion, it turned out that the committee is sticking to its guns," reports the member of parliament for Forum voor Democratie.
Furthermore, Van Meijeren was not given access to 'the more than three million documents and information that the committee requested'. According to him, other members of parliament in the committee wanted 'the staff to conduct the investigation and for the members of parliament to have only a guiding role'.
Unpleasantly surprisedCommission chairman Daan de Kort (VVD) is unpleasantly surprised by Van Meijeren's departure. "The picture he paints is far from the truth. It is up to the commission to decide who they speak to, the staff supports them in this. We will continue with the assignment. I do not recognize myself in the picture that is painted."
Gideon van Meijeren has been on the committee since May 13. Before that, there had been no FvD member on the committee for a few weeks, and before that, FvD MP Pepijn van Houwelingen did it.
