Feyenoord is 'eternally grateful' to Kindvall for his heroic role

Kindvall scored the winning goal against Celtic in the 1970 European Cup final, a trophy Feyenoord never won again. "In difficult moments, when faith is gone, there's always that image of Kindvall in 1970 – that fast sprint, that cool finish, that ecstatic joy. That historic goal immortalized him in Rotterdam and far beyond," Feyenoord recalls on the club website.

Feyenoord also praises Kindvall as "one of the greatest players and most effective strikers in club history." He scored 129 times in 144 matches. According to statistics agency Opta, no Feyenoord player with at least 25 goals for the club achieved a better average. Kindvall was the Eredivisie's top scorer three times.

His style was refined, technically gifted, intelligent, and possessed a rare knack for goal. His professionalism, sportsmanship, and dedication endeared him to teammates, staff, and supporters. His contribution to Feyenoord wasn't limited to the pitch; even after his playing career, he remained involved with the club and spoke with pride about his time at De Kuip.
