A new religious station on the Polish market. Father Rydzyk will have competition

Maria Vision is a project of the Mexican religious foundation of the same name. The station has been around since 1993 and has gained recognition among Catholic audiences, especially in Spanish-speaking countries. Its main broadcasting studio is the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe – one of the most important Marian places in the world, visited by millions of pilgrims every year.
Father Tadeusz Rydzyk will have competitionThe station is present not only in Mexico, but also in the United States and Spain. Its programming is focused on religious themes, with a clear emphasis on prayer, educational and spiritual content. Maria Vision broadcasts, among others, transmissions of services, catechesis, programs on moral and social topics, and testimonies of conversions and miracles. It is addressed to a wide group of believers, regardless of age.
As reported, the broadcaster has already filed an application for entry into the register of the National Broadcasting Council. This is the first step, without which it is impossible to obtain a later license. The application concerns the register of teleinformatic broadcasters - without it, it is impossible to apply for permission to be present in Polish cable networks.
At the same time, preparations are underway for the next stage – submitting an application for a concession. This process requires meeting more rigorous criteria, including presenting a detailed programme plan and assessing the impact of the activity on the media market in Poland.
"Consultations are ongoing"In an interview with Wirtualnemedia.pl, Piotr Barełkowski, head of the Publicystka.TV channel, confirmed that work on the presence of Maria Vision in Poland is underway. "Consultations on this matter are ongoing at the moment," he declared.
It is worth emphasizing that Maria Vision is already appearing on the Polish market – albeit in a limited scope. Selected programs of the Mexican station are broadcast on the Publicystka.TV channel. This in turn is available both online and through some cable networks. This may be a form of testing the reception of content among the Polish audience and examining the market potential before formal entry.
Television competition for Trwam? In Poland, the dominant position in the Catholic audiovisual media market has been held for years by Telewizja Trwam of Fr. Tadeusz Rydzyk and the Lux Veritatis Foundation. Trwam began broadcasting in 2003 and has been gradually strengthening its position since then, gaining a loyal audience and political support. Since 2011, the station has had a terrestrial broadcasting license, which has significantly increased its reach.
The entry of a new broadcaster, which also promotes Catholic values, can be seen as potential competition – not only for the attention of viewers, but also for influence in the Catholic media environment. The question is whether Maria Vision will gain the support of the Polish Episcopate, which has so far repeatedly distanced itself from the controversies surrounding Father Rydzyk, but has also not actively supported alternative media projects.
A New Spirit in Religious Media?Looking at the programming profile of Maria Vision, one can see significant differences from Telewizja Trwam. While the Toruń station combines religious content with a clear political line and journalism, often engaging in current social conflicts, Maria Vision seems to focus solely on spiritual formation, prayer and evangelization. This approach may appeal to those viewers who are looking for a message devoid of political tensions.
