Barycz in poor condition? Resident vs. office

Barycz in poor condition? Resident vs. office

- It stinks, the vegetation is rotting, and the landscape looks more like a dead zone than a living ecosystem. We don't even have a chance to catch anything. The water is gone, and so are the fish. We pay contributions, and the river has been unusable for weeks.

We received an email with this content from a fisherman, a resident of Żmigród. We described this matter in one of the previous editions of our newspaper. In the email, he informed us that for many weeks water has been regularly released from the dam in Żmigród, despite the lack of heavy rainfall or flood threat. He reported that the Barycz has remained heavily overgrown for years, and there are no specific actions in sight to unclog it or reclaim it. According to the resident, the river, which was once a place of relaxation and sports, today resembles more of a drying swamp. In connection with this, we sent an inquiry to Wody Polskie.
