According to Irish television RTE, the drama unfolded on the evening of February 24. The 66-year-old Pole, who had lived in Ireland for years, was resuscitated, but his life could not be saved. His wife, also Polish, was taken to Cork University Hospital in critical condition, where doctors are fighting to save her life.
Midleton is a small town of about 12 thousand inhabitants, located 22 km east of Cork. The town is famous for whiskey production - it is here that the famous Jameson distillery is located. In such a small town, people knew each other well, and now everyone is shocked by the tragedy. Wiesław quickly found his place in a new place and gained the sympathy of his neighbors. He lived in a two-storey house in a quiet area.
The services that secured the scene of the tragedy quickly found a clue that could explain its causes. Several bottles of suspicious liquid were found in the house. It is suspected that it was homemade alcohol, which could have turned out to be a deadly trap.
– It is not clear where the alcohol came from. Police have ordered laboratory tests to determine whether it was the cause of the poisoning – reports Irish television RTE.
