Mysterious sight on the lake. No clues

Residents of the Żnin commune (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship) have observed an unusual phenomenon. Lake Kaczkowskie, located there, has begun to take on a pink hue. Although the view resembles a fairy-tale landscape, it worries environmental protection inspectors, who have already taken action.

The report of the unusual color of Lake Kaczkowskie was received on Tuesday at the Bydgoszcz WIOŚ . On the same day, the environmental protection inspectors on duty took action to explain the phenomenon.

No foam or intense odor was observed at the site. No dead fish were found either. Therefore, detailed water tests are needed.

"Water samples were taken for microbiological tests to explain the cause of this phenomenon," the Inspectorate reports.

The pink color of the lake water can have several possible causes - both natural and related to human activity. This effect can be caused by certain species of bacteria that produce red or pink pigments.

The influence of human activity cannot be ruled out. Chemical compounds, e.g. industrial dyes , sewage or organic substances from agriculture, can cause unusual water coloring.
