On Tuesday, the footbridge over Struga Street in Szczecin will be opened

From Tuesday (June 17), it will be possible to use the new pedestrian and bicycle footbridge over Struga Street in Szczecin. The facility will be opened to traffic around noon - announced the Szczecin city council on Monday.

Work on the construction of a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge over one of the city's main communication arteries — Struga Street — has been completed.

- The footbridge with a total length of 36.25 meters and a usable width of 4 meters is a modern, single-span arch structure. Moving from one side of Struga Street to the other is possible thanks to stairs and gently profiled ramps. The total length of the structure together with the ramps is approx. 300 meters - informs Piotr Zieliński, spokesman for the City of Szczecin for investments.

The scope of works also included the implementation of lighting, storm sewerage, reconstruction of conflicting technical infrastructure, installation of small architectural elements (waste bins and water fountains). As part of the investment, sidewalks, bicycle paths and pedestrian crossings were rebuilt, ensuring a safe connection with the existing infrastructure.

The greenery has also been developed. Trees that interfere with the footbridge structure (linden and pine) have been replanted and new trees and shrubs have been planted. The project also uses colour details that refer to the city's visual identification - Floating Garden 2050. The steel structure of the footbridge arch is painted in the colours of the city's brand.

The General Contractor is PORR SA. The cost of the works is over PLN 7.6 million gross. The investment is supervised by the company Szczecińskie Inwestycje Miejskie Sp. z o. o. The investment was carried out as part of the Szczecin Citizens' Budget. The project is carried out under Priority 3 European Funds for mobile Western Pomerania.
