One such night. Museum Night 2025 in Przemyśl [PHOTOS]

There is one day, or rather night, when museums, galleries, institutions and facilities open to show the best of what they have to the widest possible audience, for free or for a nominal fee. Unique attractions such as special exhibitions, interactive workshops, lectures and meetings with artists.

It started in 1997 in Berlin, then there was Paris and the "Long Night of Museums", and eventually the Night of Museums was picked up by all the larger cities in Europe and the world. In Poland, the first Night of Museums took place in 2003 in Poznań, a year later in Warsaw and other cities, where it became an annual event. This year, almost five hundred institutions in the country organized the Night of Museums. And what was it like in Przemyśl?

It started at 5 p.m. in the Archdiocesan Museum with the opening of the exhibition "Atlasowe ikony" by Zofia Bator. Two hours later, those who climbed to the observation deck of the clock tower could watch from a height of 34 meters the Flash Mob Mix Dance performed by the "Koralik" Dance Group, which took place on Niepodległości Square. It must be admitted that the audience was great. In the meantime, the main building of the National Museum of the Przemyśl Region and its branches - the Museum of Bells and Pipes and the Museum of the History of the City of Przemyśl - were slowly filling up. For the persistent and enthusiasts, there were already waiting: the Przemyśl Fortress Museum, the Kazimierzowski Castle, the Rescue and Technology Museum on Jasińskiego Street, the Gallery of Contemporary Art, the Cathedral Tower, the "Fortress" Command Center, and the Underground Tourist Route, to which a huge queue of people were waiting. The offers of these institutions included over 150 announced attractions, so the night, which ended at 10 p.m., would not be enough for all of them. The reenactors did a good job, wearing costumes from a hundred years ago, giving the museum interiors an authentic atmosphere. There really was no shortage of attractions and everyone could find something for themselves. Although regulars at cultural events complained that there were too few new proposals, most participants of this Night were satisfied, even the youngest, who had only just caught the history bug, were interested in making crowns of kings and had the opportunity to see a real cannon or a former class.
