The county wants to build a new headquarters. It will cost millions

The construction of a new seat of the District Office in Trzebnica may cost 50, or maybe even 60 million złoty. The councilors say that the new building is necessary, but on the other hand they show that there is a lack of money for roads, schools or a hospital.

In the county we have about 440 km of county roads. There are also secondary schools that need to be paid for, and a hospital that requires investment and support. Meanwhile, at the last session, the issue of building a new seat of the county office was brought up again. The only problem is that the investment may consume tens of millions of złoty.

The discussion and ideas appeared by accident. It turned out that the County Board intended to transfer the plot of land next to the music school to the Trzebnica Commune, because, as the mayor indicated, the commune wanted to build a concert hall next to the school.

At this point, councilor Robert Adach reminded that the starosty had already transferred real estate to the commune, including a primary and music school, as well as land. He wondered whether transferring more land made sense and asked what residents of other communes would say, after all, it was about reducing the county's assets.

At one point, Adach pointed out that the starosty had been talking about building a new headquarters for a long time. He said that such an investment could be built on a plot of land on Piwniczna Street, but this would require the good will of the mayor and councilors, who would have to change the plan.

Then he added that it was high time to sort out these matters, because at the moment the starosty departments are in different buildings, which generates unnecessary costs. He said that the current buildings could be sold to the commune, e.g. for health resort purposes (future sanatoriums), since, as the mayor announced, Trzebnica is to become a health resort. He also indicated that finally, the troublesome traffic would be removed from the area at Leśna Street, and the building itself could be used for purposes related to the health resort.

Starosta Małgorzata Matusiak admitted that talks about the construction of a new headquarters have been going on for a long time and perhaps it is time to get down to specifics. The councilors asked how much such an investment might cost. No one was able to indicate the exact amount, because it will only be possible to determine this after the project is prepared. However, Adach, citing similar examples from other counties, said that the construction could cost around PLN 50 million.

For the county, this is a huge amount, but assuming that the starosty can sell the building and land at ul. Leśna, the building of the current starosty at Bochenka, and for example to the Trzebnica Commune, it may turn out that the amount needed for construction will be much lower. The only problem is whether the Trzebnica Commune has the appropriate funds to buy such properties, since the commune's debt alone already amounts to about PLN 110 million.

During the session, it was clear that many councillors liked the idea. They said that it could bring large savings in the daily functioning of the starosty, and in addition, it would definitely improve the comfort of work, because in the current state and with the growth of the administration, housing problems are burdensome not only for officials, but above all for petitioners.

There is, however, another side to this matter. If the district office were to start building a new headquarters, it is possible that there would be a lack of money for road repairs, schools, or improving the functioning of the hospital. The councilors therefore have a difficult choice. We will soon find out how they will ultimately decide.
