The end of Piast's amazing series

Piast Żmigród lost 0-1 away to Łużyce Lubań, ending an impressive series of eleven consecutive league victories.
On Saturday, May 17, at the stadium in Lubań, Piast Żmigród faced Łużyce Lubań. Before this match, the opposing team was in 11th place in the table. The form of this team has been very unpredictable lately. In the last 4 matches, they have had two draws, a win and a loss. The team from Lubań currently has the best scorer in the Koleje Dolnośląskie IV league. Daniel Ziółkowski has already scored 19 goals this season and, together with Kacper Głowieńkowski from Polonia Środa Śląska, he leads the scorers' classification. Patryk Szymański and Mateusz Żytko did not travel to Lubań due to yellow cards. In the autumn, Piast won in Żmigród 2:1 after goals by Piotr Kotyla and Władysław Shvets.
This time the match with Łużyce did not go well. Despite Żmigród's advantage in ball possession, the hosts were more specific and more often threatened the goal guarded by Filip Koczorowski. The best chance for Piast in the first half was had by Adrian Pytlik, but his shot was dealt with by the Łużyce goalkeeper.
Fifteen minutes after the break, the opponents took the lead thanks to Denis Wadziński, who was not guarded by Piast players. Wadziński scored a goal with a header after a cross from a corner kick. The team from Żmigród looked for a chance to improve the result with attempts by Szymon Sołtyński and Marcin Gołębiowski, but it did not bring the expected effect. Łużyce Lubań won against Piast Żmigród 1:0. This broke the incredible series of winning matches in the league this year. It ended in the previous match with eleven victories. On Wednesday, May 21 at 5 p.m. Piast will play at home against Barycz Sułów. Photo: MKS Piast Żmigród.
