The Ministry of National Education will introduce a revolution in schools. Some of the ideas are controversial.

One of the main topics discussed during the meeting of the Joint Government and Local Government Commission was the issue of changes in Polish schools. The local government side submitted a request for clarification to the Ministry of National Education.
This concerns "new rules for adapting the functioning of education to the current social situation." "Demographic changes are disturbing. The solutions proposed in the draft bill will allow local governments to more rationally manage budget funds, " explained Henryk Kiepura, deputy head of the Ministry of National Education.
The Ministry of National Education wants changes in schools. We know the details. In the draft act, the Ministry of National Education proposes, among other things , the possibility of combining grades 1-3 into one, if there are fewer than 12 students in these grades, as well as simplifying the procedure for creating a branch school based on an eight-grade school .
Currently, to establish a branch school in place of a closed institution, the school must first be closed and teachers dismissed, and only then can it be transformed into a branch school. The Ministry wants to reduce the procedure to just one step.
The Ministry of National Education's proposal also allows for other local government tasks to be carried out in school or preschool buildings, beyond those related solely to children's education . For example, tasks related to nursery or senior care could be undertaken.
Changes to education law. New ideas from the Ministry of National Education.Beata Pawłowska from the Ministry of National Education's Department of Cooperation with Local Government explained that current regulations allow only one school of each type in a school complex. If the new regulations were implemented, local governments would be able to create schools consisting of more than one primary school .
The new regulations would also apply to private institutions. "We are introducing a requirement to obtain a positive opinion from the education superintendent if you intend to establish a private preschool, " explained a representative of the Ministry of National Education. Currently, this requirement only applies to those wishing to establish a private school.
The next round of talks between the Ministry of National Education and local governments is scheduled for July 30. Politicians still have many reservations about the ministry's proposals – they claim there are too few changes and the pace is too slow.
