The prosecutor's office wants to discontinue the investigation into the 34-year-old man suspected of murder and two attempted murders, and to place him in a psychiatric facility. Experts believe he is mentally incompetent, Ewa Dziadczyk, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Koszalin, told the Polish Press Agency (PAP).

The Sławno District Prosecutor's Office has filed a motion to discontinue the investigation into a 33-year-old man suspected of murder and two attempted murders in Darłowo in December last year.

As prosecutor Dziadczyk told PAP on Tuesday, investigators also requested that the 34-year-old be placed in a psychiatric facility, "in a facility with a higher level of security," as a precautionary measure.

"During the proceedings, experts ruled that the suspect was completely incapable of recognizing the significance of the act and controlling his actions. He is insane," said prosecutor Dziadczyk.

Tragic events occurred in the early morning hours of December 26, 2024, in Darłowo. A 33-year-old man went to his grandmother's apartment with the intention, as he admitted during the investigation, of killing her. He punched and kicked her in the head. Convinced she was dead, he continued on to the home of his ex-girlfriend and her partner, whom he also wanted to kill. He was prevented from doing so by the girl's 73-year-old grandfather. However, he himself died from blows inflicted by the 33-year-old. The man's grandmother was taken to hospital in serious condition.

During the investigation, the suspect admitted to the charges. He said, as prosecutor Dziadczyk reported, that he was "cleaning the city of bad people."
