The management of the Przemyśl PWiK submitted applications for a change in the tariff at the beginning of March this year to the management of the Regional Water Management Board of the State Water Management Company Wody Polskie based in Rzeszów. The change for collections in Przemyśl, Prałkowce in the Krasiczyn commune and the rural commune of Przemyśl. The new rates would be in force from July 1, 2025 to July 1, 2028. The management approved the application, which means that from the next month, residents of the aforementioned towns will pay more for water and sewage disposal.

For the residents of Przemyśl, whose water is supplied and whose sewage is discharged by PWiK sp. z o. o., and who settle their accounts based on the readings of the main water meter or on average water consumption standards, the increase will amount to slightly over 33 percent. Importantly, it will increase slightly from year to year (for three years).

The president of PWiK sp. z o. o. in Przemyśl, Przemysław Hyczkiewicz, stated that such a decision is never easy, but it was necessary at a time when we are all faced with rising living costs.

– The activities of our company result from the need to ensure a reliable, safe and modern water supply and sewage disposal system.

– he said, enumerating the main reasons for the significant price increase:

- It is primarily the increase in the cost of electricity and fuels. Our water treatment plants and sewage treatment plants are energy-intensive. Over the last four years, electricity prices have increased by over one hundred percent, which directly translates into operating costs. It is also inflation and the increase in operating costs, legal and environmental requirements or the increase in wages, because - let me remind you - the minimum wage rate has increased by 60 percent over the last four years, which also significantly affected the company's finances.
