Weather forecast for the end of February. Conditions across the country leave much to be desired
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management reports variable weather conditions in Poland on February 27 and 28. Eastern Europe is under the influence of a weakening high, while the rest of the continent is under the influence of numerous lows. Poland remains within the range of a low system with centers over the Baltic, the Balkans and Denmark, which brings maritime polar air.
On Thursday, Poland is forecast to have heavy cloudiness with local clearings, mainly in the west of the country. Rainfall may occur, and in the foothill areas of the Carpathians, rain with sleet and snow in the evening. Snowfall with an increase of up to 10 cm is expected in the mountains. The maximum temperature will be from 5°C to 10°C. The wind will be weak, variable, with a predominance of southern directions in the east and western directions in the west.
The night from Thursday to Friday will bring heavy cloudiness with local clearings in the west. Rain is possible, and in the foothill areas rain and snow. In the mountains and foothill regions snowfall may increase the cover to 12 cm. In the southeast, precipitation may be moderate, with a total of up to 15 mm. In central and northern Poland there may be fog limiting visibility to 200 m. The minimum temperature will be from 1°C to 3°C, and in the foothill regions around -1°C. The wind will be weak and variable.
Weather for Friday: Rain and possible thunderstormsOn Friday, there will be a lot of cloudiness, with greater clearings in the west and south of the country. Rain is predicted, and locally in the east and in the foothills, rain and snow. Snowfall is possible in the mountains and foothills. Thunderstorms may occur in the southwest. In the east of the country, precipitation may be moderate, with a total of about 10 mm. The maximum temperature will be from 2 degrees Celsius in the east to 9 degrees Celsius in the west. The wind will be weak and moderate.
In Warsaw on Thursday, heavy cloudiness with clearings and possible rain is expected. In the morning, there may be heavy fog limiting visibility to 200 m. The maximum temperature will be 8 degrees Celsius. On the night from Thursday to Friday, the cloudiness will remain heavy with rain and possible fog. The minimum temperature will be 3 degrees Celsius. On Friday, rain with heavy cloudiness is expected in the capital, and the maximum temperature will reach 5 degrees Celsius. The wind will be weak, moderate at times, from changing directions.
