150 unique objects in one exhibition. Andy Warhol will come to Krakow

Around 100 works by Andy Warhol (1928-1987) will be on display from Saturday at a temporary exhibition at the Cogiteon Małopolska Science Centre in Kraków. The exhibits come mainly from the biographical Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art in Miedzialborace, Slovakia.
The director of Cogiteon, Kazimierz Koprowski , announced on Thursday that the exhibition " Andy Warhol. Dialogue with pop art" included, in addition to paintings , hand-drawn sketches, books, clothes and other items belonging to the artist, as well as photographs taken by Billy Name and Rudo Prekop - a total of nearly 150 exhibits , most of which have never been shown in Poland before.
In addition to works and memorabilia from the Slovak museum, the exhibition also presents collections from private collections. Among them are about 30 vinyl record covers designed by Warhol from the collection of music journalist Piotr Metz.
The visitors to the exhibition are greeted at the entrance by a figure of Andy Warhol, made in 1:1 scale, as he himself once wished, from plastic. According to the exhibition curator, Barbara Woźniak , the Krakow exhibition, apart from its artistic context, also has a scientific tone.
- Since we are at the Małopolska Science Centre Cogiteon, many activities will serve to show, for example, what techniques the artist used, how the colour in his serigraphs was contested, how his work influences contemporary culture and science - she announced.
The scientific content was prepared in cooperation with the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Music in Kraków . Along with the exhibition, a programme of accompanying events was prepared, including screenings of films by A. Warhol, as well as art workshops inspired by his work, as well as radio broadcasts and concerts.
The exhibition "Andy Warhol. Dialogue with Pop Art" will be available from Saturday, May 31 to August 29, 2025 at the Cogiteon Małopolska Science Center.
