On the eve of his 99th birthday, Sir David Attenborough is showing no signs of slowing down. His latest documentary, Ocean with David Attenborough, will hit theaters on May 8, 2025, to coincide with the naturalist’s anniversary. Described as his most important message, the film highlights both the beauty and threats to our oceans, calling for their protection.

To mark Sir David Attenborough's 99th birthday, BBC Earth has prepared a special series of programmes, broadcast from 5 to 9 May at 6:30pm. These include David Attenborough: Life in Colour, Attenborough and the Jurassic Sea Monster, Attenborough and the Giant Patagonian Dinosaur and Attenborough and the Song of Nature. Each of these programmes presents extraordinary stories from the natural world, presented with Attenborough's signature warmth and passion.

Sir David Attenborough - over 70 years of television career

Sir David's career began in 1952 at the BBC. Since then, for more than seven decades, he has brought the complexity and beauty of nature closer to viewers, becoming an icon of nature documentary. His award-winning work has not only educated, but also inspired generations to care for our planet.

Sir David Attenborough, despite approaching his 100th birthday, continues to be involved in environmental issues. His continued passion and commitment are an inspiration to many, reminding us of the responsibility we have for the future of our planet.

BBC Earth Birthday Broadcast Schedule:

May 7: Attenborough and the Jurassic Sea Monster – A journey in the footsteps of a 200 million-year-old ichthyosaur.

May 8: Attenborough and the Giant Patagonian Dinosaur – Learn the story of the largest known dinosaur.

May 9: Attenborough and the Song of Nature – Immerse yourself in the sounds of nature and discover their meaning.

Each of these programs is not only a feast for the eyes, but also a reminder of the beauty and fragility of the world around us.
