Construction is bouncing back. Spring growth in production and employment in the sector

In the second quarter of 2025, an improvement in the economic situation in the construction industry was noted in Poland - according to a study by the Institute of Economic Development of the Warsaw School of Economics.
In the second quarter of 2025, the IRG SGH construction sentiment indicator (IRGCON) has a positive value of 11.1 points, which is 10.8 points higher than the value in the previous quarter, but 0.9 points lower than the value in the second quarter of 2024.
A positive value of the indicator was recorded for the private sector (9.2 points) and for the public sector (26.5 points). Compared to the second quarter of 2024, the value of the indicator for the private sector increased by 0.3 points, and for the public sector it decreased by 13 points.
"With the start of the spring-summer season, the level of construction and assembly production increased quarterly by 32.2 points to 13 points, orders by 20.5 points to 13.9 points and capacity utilization by 10.1 points to 2.4 points," the study said.
Construction companies increased employment and investments.
Their financial situation improved.
The authors of the study report that while construction companies assess the overall economic situation slightly better, assessments of the situation in the construction industry have worsened.
Survey participants expect the situation to improve both in construction and the overall economy in the next quarter.
The surveyed companies consider tax burdens to be the most burdensome barrier to construction activity.
The main barriers mentioned by the survey participants were also: unstable law and prices of raw materials and materials. (PAP Biznes)
