Couriers enter a new dimension. The first such solution in a Polish city

- The transshipment point is located in the underground car park under the National Forum of Music and Freedom Square. It will start operating in full at the turn of June and July.
- - Bicycles instead of cars on the streets mean cleaner air, less noise, more ecological deliveries. We want to reconcile the needs of residents, entrepreneurs and other users - says the deputy mayor of Wrocław Jakub Mazur.
- The point will be used by 6 companies, including 5 couriers and 1 food distributor. Each of them has a piece of space for themselves. For some of them, it will also be the debut of bicycle couriers in Wrocław.
Delivery vehicles will pull into the parking lot to leave their goods, which will then be delivered to customers by bicycle couriers .
Bikes instead of cars on the streets mean cleaner air, less noise, more ecological deliveries. We care about reconciling the needs of residents, entrepreneurs and other users . We can be an example for other cities, because we are the first in Poland to open a shared micro-transfer hub
- says Jakub Mazur, deputy mayor of Wrocław.
Mismatched delivery time windows and lack of designated unloading areasThe launch of the microhub is the result of cooperation between the city and the Wrocław University of Economics. Prof. Maja Kiba-Janiak, coordinator of the Partnership for Freight Services in the Historic Centre of Wrocław and an employee of the Wrocław University of Economics, who serves as the leader of the Partnership, points to the results of surveys, interviews and workshops with representatives of various enterprises operating in the centre of the capital of Lower Silesia.
- They showed that the biggest challenges related to deliveries are mismatched time windows for deliveries and the lack of designated dedicated places for unloading, which translates into breaking regulations and blocking pavements or roads by suppliers - he emphasizes.

He hopes that the launch of the microhub in the NFM parking lot will improve this situation by reducing the number of delivery vehicles on the streets of the Old Town center.
- This is the first solution of this type in Poland. Poznań recently tested a mobile microhub in cooperation with one company. Ours is shared by many companies and uses the existing infrastructure, which is an underground car park - he argues.
The point will be used by 6 companies, including 5 couriers and 1 food distributor . Each of them has a piece of space for themselves: DPD, GLS, Allegro One, InPost, Wrocławscy Kurierzy Rowerowi and Makro Cash&Carry. For some of them, it will also be the debut of bicycle couriers in Wrocław.
Bike couriers in Allegro One colors. Those from Makro will deliver with refrigerated semi-trailers, and GLS is changing its organizationThe city hall noted that the novelty was prepared by Makro, because to deliver food products from the parking lot to customers (within a kilometre), the company ordered two bicycles with refrigerator trailers cooled with dry ice, in which the temperature is controlled remotely .
