Funds for rebuilding nurseries after flood divided. These municipalities will receive subsidies

The government will allocate PLN 14.5 million for the reconstruction and renovation of childcare facilities for children up to 3 years of age, destroyed by the flood in September 2024. The support will go to 9 local governments from areas affected by last year's natural disaster.

- Our priority is for every child to be able to return to a safe and friendly place - said Magdalena Roguska, deputy minister in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

- Safe care facilities for the youngest are the foundation of strong local communities. Rebuilding nurseries after the flood is not only an investment in infrastructure, but above all an expression of our solidarity with families who have experienced the dramatic effects of the element. Children need stability, and parents need a sense of security. That is why government support goes where it is most needed today - said Aleksandra Gajewska, Deputy Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy.

The largest number of subsidized facilities is located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, where subsidies amounted to over PLN 7.2 million. The largest subsidy, PLN 5.3 million, was awarded to the Stronie Śląskie commune for the reconstruction of the municipal nursery. The facility will be rebuilt in a place that is not threatened by flooding, right next to the currently operating modular kindergarten and nursery.

Nearly PLN 1 million (PLN 939 thousand) was received by the rural commune of Kłodzko – for the reconstruction of a nursery in Ołdrzychowice Kłodzkie. Other local governments with funding for the reconstruction of nurseries are: Jelenia Góra (PLN 389 thousand), Świerzawa (PLN 250 thousand), Nowa Ruda (PLN 319 thousand), Męcinka commune (PLN 52 thousand).

The Opole Province received over PLN 7 million from the government. One of the main beneficiaries is Głuchołazy , which received PLN 4 million for the reconstruction of the municipal nursery. The facility was seriously damaged during the flood and part of the building is currently out of use.

The second grant – in the amount of PLN 3 million – was received by the Paczków commune for the reconstruction of the facility in a new, safe location.

The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy together with the Chancellery of the Prime Minister awarded PLN 164,000 to the Skoczów commune for the reconstruction of the nursery, which operates on a limited scale.

According to MRPiPS, the subsidy awarded in 2024 and planned to be awarded in 2025 under the program covers 100% of the costs of the tasks carried out. This means that local governments are not obliged to make a 20% own contribution, as was the case so far. Thanks to the support of the government and the involvement of local governments, nurseries in flood areas will soon resume full operation.
