The median monthly salary in Germany was €4,013 gross in 2024, according to the Federal Employment Agency. In the west of the country, workers earned an average of €578 more than in the east.

The median was calculated for the set of full-time employees subject to health insurance contributions.
According to data from the Federal Employment Agency, German workers earned €217 more per month in 2024 than in 2023. This means that the average wage has exceeded €4,000 for the first time.
