The złoty weakens against the dollar and the euro. Volatility does not leave the currency market

The soap opera surrounding President Donald Trump’s trade tariffs continued to play out on the markets on the last day of the week. After they were reinstated by a federal appeals court, the dollar recovered losses against other currencies. The złoty lost against major currencies on the eve of the presidential runoff.
A day after the U.S. Court of International Trade reportedly blocked most of President Donald Trump’s tariffs from going into effect, a federal appeals court reinstated them. Wednesday’s ruling raised volatility in the currency market. Its subsequent overturn on Thursday did little to calm the situation.


On Friday at 9:35 the euro was at 1.1337 dollars and was about 0.5 cents higher than on Thursday at a similar time. The American currency was also strengthening against the złoty. The złoty cost about 3.74 dollars in the morning, which is almost 1.7 groszy more than at the end of Thursday's quotations.


The złoty weakened on Friday morning against other major currencies as well. At 9:48, the EUR/PLN rate was 4.2463 - almost 1.2 groszy more than at Thursday's close on the forex market.


On Friday before noon, the złoty also weakened against the pound sterling and the Swiss franc. At around 9:45, the GBP/PLN rate was 5.048 (1.5 groszy more than at Thursday's close), and the CHF/PLN rate was at 4.5438 (less than a grosz more than on Thursday).
