There is no shortage of people willing to fraudulently obtain bank loans.

The Polish Bank Association has prepared another quarterly InfoDOK report . Data presented at the press conference shows that in the second quarter of 2025, banks recorded 3,787 loan fraud attempts.
The total potential value of all applications submitted to various bank branches was approximately PLN 93.4 million. On average, every 35 minutes, a customer reported knowingly using stolen personal data.
The average fraud attempt involved a loan worth PLN 16,800 , although the largest fraud foiled involved a loan worth PLN 1.58 million.
Most often, stolen ID cards and passports are used for such activities, but in the case of business entities, fake people are often used who are unaware of providing false information to officials at bank branches.
In the second quarter, customers reported 27.1 thousand lost or stolen identity documents to the nationwide "Restricted Documents" system.
In the event of such unexpected events, information is automatically transmitted to all banks operating in the country. It often happens that customers have accounts or deposits with multiple banks.
As of the end of June 2025, the database contained 2.68 million documents. According to the latest information, the number of lost documents is decreasing quarter by quarter.
