The first medical schools announced their ranking lists. This is how many points guaranteed the index.

- This year, medical students can choose from 33 universities.
- In total, they will accept 10,249 people for medical studies and 1,441 people for medical and dental studies.
- To be accepted into the Medical University of Białystok, you had to score at least 171 points out of 200 during the recruitment process.
- In the case of the Medical University of Wrocław, it was 179 points
- Medicine was also a hit at non-medical universities.
The first stage of university admissions is slowly coming to an end. Ten universities have already published their first ranking lists for medicine. Three more universities will do the same today. We've checked the required points for admission to medicine from the top of the list.
The Medical University of Białystok was one of the first to close its candidate registration system. 8,972 applications were received for the university's 16 full-time undergraduate and long-cycle master's degree programs. Traditionally, the most popular program was the "Major" program. 3,373 applicants applied for the student registration form, which translates to 18 applicants for every spot. The last candidate on the admissions list received 171 points out of a possible 200.
As many as 22 people registered for one spot in the medical and dental program, and nearly seven applied for one spot in physiotherapy. The next ranking list at UMB will be announced tomorrow, July 17th.
At the Wrocław Medical University (UMW), the minimum point threshold for medicine was 179 points out of a possible 200 in Wrocław and 175 in the Wałbrzych branch. Thirteen applicants applied for a place in Wrocław and 37 for a place in the Wałbrzych branch.
Interest in the program has traditionally been enormous, especially at the Wałbrzych branch, where – as the City Hall points out – the number of applicants for a place increased from 32 to 37 in two years . Thirteen applicants per place in the medical program in Wrocław, and as many as 32 applicants per place in the medical-dental program.
Newly launched programs in Wrocław—medical biology and electroradiology—also proved to be major recruitment hits. Medical biology attracted seven applicants for one spot, and electroradiology attracted five.
"It's worth noting that the Medical University of Wrocław is not only maintaining but actually increasing its popularity. The number of candidates increased by 4,273 this year compared to 2023 and by 1,725 compared to last year. During this year's recruitment, the university also increased its admission limit by another 100 people, including 25 places in the medical program in Wrocław," notes Małgorzata Smutkiewicz from the Office of Recruitment and Alumni Research at the Medical University of Wrocław.
The next list of those qualified for medicine will be published by the Medical University of Warsaw on July 17, after 2 p.m.
Medicine was also the most popular field of study at the Pomeranian Medical University (PUM) and Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST). To qualify for medicine at PUM, students had to score between 171 and 200 points. 3,968 applicants competed for 250 spots (15 applicants per spot). A significant number of applicants also applied for the following fields:
- medical and dental - 1,944 candidates (limited to 70 places, which gives 27 people per place),
- 1st degree inpatient obstetrics - 327 candidates (limited to 40 places, which means 8 people per place),
- Medical analytics, uniform master's degree - 249 candidates (limited to 50 places, which means 6 people per place),
- health psychology uniform master's degree - 419 candidates (limited to 70 places, which means 6 people per place).
869 candidates applied for the medical program at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Forty were accepted, leaving 22 candidates competing for one spot. The entry point threshold was 639.15 points. Next on the list of top candidates in this year's recruitment were artificial intelligence (11 candidates per spot), cybersecurity (8 candidates per spot), and automation and robotics (8 candidates per spot).
"The second round of enrollment at Wrocław University of Science and Technology will begin on July 23rd and end on the 25th. The list of accepted students will be announced on August 1st. A decision on whether enrollment in the medical program will continue will be made at the beginning of next week," announced Andrzej Charytoniuk from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology's Communication Department.
At Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, the entry point threshold for medicine after the first ranking list was announced was 163,098 points for full-time studies and 131.69 for part-time studies. There were over 26 applicants for each place (2,697 candidates applied). Also in demand were the full-time programs: physiotherapy (505 applicants; 7.2 applicants per place), psychology (676 applicants; 6.76 applicants per place), and applied criminology (282 applicants; 3.76 applicants per place).
The university will accept the required documents for studies between July 16 and 22, 2025. If the limit of places is not met, subsequent dates for candidates from the reserve list will be set every two business days.
Nearly 18 candidates are competing for a single spot in the medical program at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin . This is more than a year ago (when there were over 13.5 candidates). Psychology (specializing in quality of life support) and nursing were also in high demand, with nine candidates per spot. In total, 700 more people participated in the university's recruitment process than last year.
Importantly, the presented score thresholds are not final. They will be lowered as subsequent lists of accepted candidates are published. Each university also individually determines the score conversion factor for high school leaving examinations during admissions.
For example, at the Jagiellonian University Medical College, 1% of the advanced secondary school leaving exam score is equivalent to 1 point. The exam results in biology, chemistry, and a third chosen subject (chemistry or physics) are added together and divided by three. At the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, the advanced secondary school leaving exam score is multiplied by 2 and then calculated according to the formula adopted for each field of study. Therefore, at some universities, the maximum possible score for admission was 300 points, while at others, it was 200.
Today, on July 16, the Medical University of Lublin, the K. Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznań, and the Bydgoszcz University of Technology will announce their first ranking lists of qualified candidates.
