300 plus is a one-time benefit for school supplies for every student up to age 20, or up to age 24 for students with disabilities. Starting July 1, parents can apply for the "Good Start" program. This does not apply to preschoolers, kindergarteners, or university students.
- 300 plus (300+) is the common name of the "Good Start" program
- Parents and guardians of school-age children can receive a one-time payment of PLN 300 (net) for school supplies for their child, regardless of the family income.
- Applications can be submitted from July 1st
- Where and by when can I submit an application? Who can count on additional funding for their child's school supplies?
300 plus (300+) is the common name of the " Good start " program, thanks to which parents and guardians of school-age children can receive PLN 300 (net) once a year (also in 2025) for school supplies for their child, regardless of the family income.
ZUS - as DGP reminds - has already started accepting applications for benefits from the "Good Start" program for school supplies from July 1, 2025.
The application is submitted online only, and the deadline is November 30th of this year. The funds will be deposited directly into the bank account of the parent or guardian of the school-age child.
Who can get this money?
The 300 plus benefit can be received primarily by the parents and legal guardians of the student:
- up to 20 years of age,
- up to 24 years of age – in the case of a student with a disability.
The 300 plus benefit is also available in the case of:
- the child or student turns 20 before the start of the school year in the calendar year in which the child or student turns 20;
- the child or student turning 24 before the start of the school year in the calendar year in which the child or student turns 24 - in the case of children or students with a disability certificate.
- In the case of a child participating in rehabilitation and educational activities, this benefit is due no earlier than the calendar year in which the child turns 7.
The ages of 20 and 24 are counted as year-olds, so students in the last years of technical and secondary schools, as well as students of post-secondary schools, are also entitled to the benefit.
300 plus not for parents or guardians of preschoolers, kindergarteners and students- Last year, almost 4.7 million children across Poland received support under the program - says Krystyna Michałek, regional spokeswoman for the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The 300 plus benefit cannot be received for children:
- who are going to kindergarten or so-called "pre-school" in the current school year 2025/2026
- who have been placed in a social welfare home, a juvenile detention center, a correctional facility, a detention center, a penitentiary, a military school or another school, if these institutions provide full maintenance free of charge.
Moreover, 300 plus is not available to students studying at a higher education institution.
Who can apply for 300 plus?
An application (only in electronic form) for PLN 300 under the Good Start program can be successfully submitted to ZUS by:
- the child's parent - one of them submits the application, and if both submit the application - the parent who submitted the application first will receive PLN 300
- when the child does not live with both parents – the application is submitted by the parent who actually takes care of the child
- when a child – in accordance with a court decision – is under the alternate care of both parents, each of them can submit an application and receive a benefit under the Good Start program in the amount of PLN 150.
- the child’s actual guardian, i.e. the person who takes care of the child and has filed an application to the court for its adoption,
- legal guardian of a child – a person to whom the court has entrusted the care of a child,
- a student, i.e. an adult student who is not supported by his parents because his parents are dead or he has established alimony payments from them,
- a person becoming independent, i.e. a person who leaves a foster family, a family children's home, a care and educational facility or a regional care and therapeutic facility.
The PLN 300 benefit (under the Good Start program) is also available for children in foster care , as well as for individuals leaving foster care who are becoming independent . In these cases, the PLN 300 plus application can be submitted by: a foster family, the person running a family children's home, the director of a care and educational facility, or the director of a regional care and therapeutic facility.
Applications for the 300+ benefit are reviewed by the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS). It issues a decision and disburses the funds.
Importantly, 300 plus is not taxed and is not subject to bailiff enforcement, because it is money for a student's school supplies.
300 plus – how to applyThe 300 plus application can only be submitted electronically between 1 July and 30 November.
Submitting a correct application by the end of August means that the money will be paid no later than September 30.
Parents can apply using:
1) mZUS application, 2) ZUS Electronic Services Platform (PUE) portal, 3) Emp@tia portal,
4) electronic banking.
ZUS reminds that parents of foreign children can also submit applications via online banking and the Empatia portal. The condition is that both the parent and the child have PESEL numbers.
Importantly, from the new school year 2025/2026, the condition for granting and paying the Good Start benefit is whether the child fulfills the schooling obligation or the obligation to study at a school belonging to the Polish education system.
