Next year, the late Queen of Great Britain would have celebrated her 100th birthday. To mark the occasion, Buckingham Palace will host a massive exhibition of Elizabeth II's wardrobe and personal items. Among the exhibits will be the monarch's wedding dress, designed by Norman Hartnell.

Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926. To mark the centenary of the late British monarch's birth next spring, Buckingham Palace will present an exhibition dedicated to her. The exact opening date will be announced in November.

The exhibition, titled "Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style," will feature approximately 200 items, including the Queen's personal items, clothing, and accessories. Among the fashion treasures presented at Buckingham Palace will be the Norman Hartnell -designed gown worn by the monarch on her wedding day in November 1947. Adorned with thousands of pearls, the gown was inspired by Botticelli's famous painting "Spring." Elizabeth's wedding look was completed by a tiara given to her by her grandmother and a 4-meter ivory veil.

One of the oldest surviving items of the Queen's wardrobe is a silver tulle dress worn by the then 8-year-old Elizabeth at the wedding of her uncle, the Duke of Kent, in 1934. The exhibition will also feature a green and white dress made for him for a banquet held in Pakistan in 1961. The exhibition will also include the Queen's everyday attire, including classic coats, headscarves, and riding gear, as well as design sketches and handwritten correspondence regarding dress selection for specific occasions.

"This exhibition is a unique celebration of Elizabeth II's unique style and enduring fashion legacy. During her long reign, her distinctive attire became recognizable around the world, strengthening the British fashion industry and exerting an indelible influence on generations of designers and tailors," said exhibition curator Caroline de Guitaut in a statement.

The opening of the exhibition will be accompanied by the premiere of the book "Queen Elizabeth II: Fashion and Style", which will include essays by fashion historians and designers.
