Remember the "Favoritka"? This iconic Skoda just got a new, electric heart

It was an icon of change, a symbol of dreams of the West and the pinnacle of family aspirations in the early 90s. Today – after years of oblivion – the Škoda Favorit returns in a surprising, futuristic edition. Not as a cheap sentiment, but as an electric trinket created with respect for history and a passion worthy of the engineers of tomorrow. Ready for a journey where nostalgia meets technology?
There are cars that instantly transport us back in time. One look is enough and we can already smell the specific upholstery and hear the sound of the engine in our heads. For many of us, such a machine is the Škoda Favorit – a symbol of transformation, a breath of the West in the Eastern Bloc and the automotive dream of many a family at the turn of the 80s and 90s.
Now imagine that someone took this good old “Favoritka”, removed its combustion heart and replaced it with a fully electric drive. Sounds like a crazy project by a YouTuber who found an old Skoda in the garage and too much free time? Bullshit. The brand itself did it, and the effect is intriguing, to say the least.

Don't rush to the showrooms yet. This project is not a preview of series production. This unique work was created as part of an internship at the Škoda company school. Yes, this is not a joke. A group of extremely talented enthusiasts decided to pay tribute to the legend and see how it would cope in today's increasingly electrified world.
They took the 1989 body and , with no small amount of precision, placed it on a modern, electric platform derived directly from the Enyaq. The result? A classic silhouette that immediately evokes memories, combined with the technology of tomorrow. It's a bit like your favorite band from your youth recording an album with a modern, electronic sound - intriguing and fascinating.

The cherry on the cake is a fact that not everyone remembers. The body of the iconic "Favoritka" was designed by the Italian studio Bertone, the same one that gave the world the Lamborghini Countach and Lancia Stratos. At that time, the Czechs showed that they had the panache, and their trip to Italy resulted in a project that pushed the brand into a new era.
This one-time experiment is proof that there is still a lot of nostalgia in modern motoring. If you are as interested in such automotive returns to the future as we are, be sure to check out our MOTO section , and especially our MOTORING CLASSICS.
