They've created shoes that... are supposed to fall apart. It's not a marketing campaign, it's a mission

Do you want to have real contact with nature? Thanks to the unique shoes created by the producers of Yerba Madre, you will have more than enough of it. These clogs were created from... soil.
There are shoes that are bought with the intention of lasting several seasons. Today, we will definitely not be talking about such shoes.
Yerba Madre , the brand that produces yerba mate , which won me over with its name alone, scores points for the second time, this time with its new… surprising project .
Dirt Shoes are – as the name suggests – shoes made from earth , soil , soil-based materials and organic fibers using precision techniques such as 3D printing and artisanal handicraft .

The manufacturers emphasize that no synthetic dyes , glues or chemicals were used in the creation of this unusual footwear, only natural dyes and binders . What's more, the Yerba Madre team ensures that the soil products used to make the shoes come from farms using sustainable practices .

Okay, but what's the point of all this? To gradually destroy them during the march, and in time... literally give them back to nature . The shoes have been specially enriched with seeds, so that where they fall apart, wild flowers will grow.
- The best way to stay connected to Mother Earth , wherever you set foot. The shoes are designed to disintegrate as you walk and disperse wildflower seeds. They are a reminder of the special bond shared by all living things - we read on the Yerba Madre manufacturer's website.

The project was created in collaboration with the New York conceptual design studio Basura , which is run by artist Rajeev Basu , and… it was not at all easy to implement. After all, the idea was for shoes that would be durable on the one hand, but on the other… would fulfill their mission, which is to gradually crumble.
Dirt Shoes is more than just a Yerba Madre ad campaign. It's a true ecological mission and a "commitment to giving back to the planet more than we take."

Do you like them? I admit that I would love to run around my allotment garden in these!
