The Ministry of Interior and Administration on the difficult weather situation. "It is developing dynamically"

"Due to the rapidly developing weather situation and the arrival of the Genoese low over Poland, Minister Marcin Kierwiński has decided to convene a crisis management team at the RCB headquarters. The briefing will be led by Deputy Minister Wiesław Leśniakiewicz. A press briefing by the Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration will be held immediately after the meeting," reads a statement published online.

Earlier, due to the threat, the RCB sent out alerts. "Warning! Heavy rainfall and storms forecast for July 27-28. Flooding possible. Stay away from swollen rivers. Follow emergency services' instructions." People in 12 voivodeships received these messages.

After the crisis headquarters at the Government Security Centre, Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration Wiesław Leśniakiewicz provided the most important information regarding the weather situation.

"We have had meetings with the voivodes of Podkarpackie, Małopolskie, Śląskie, Opolskie, Świętokrzyskie, and Lower Silesia. These areas are most at risk. We have analyzed the situation and prepared," he said. He added that special emphasis has been placed on the efficient flow of information down to the "municipal level." "The weather forecast is particularly alarming because this atmospheric front will last at least 72 hours. Localized thunderstorms will be the most dangerous," he noted.

As Leśniakiewicz said, "one of the recommendations submitted to the voivodes is the need to evacuate youth camps." "Especially in areas with a third-degree storm threat. Evacuation is absolutely necessary there," he emphasized.

IMWM has issued warnings due to weather conditions.

Due to severe weather conditions, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued first, second, and third-degree warnings for storms and heavy rain for eastern, central, and southern Poland. A red alert, the highest level, is in effect for the southern parts of the Małopolska, Opole, and Silesian Voivodeships.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has also issued a Level II hydrological warning for rising water levels exceeding warning levels. These warnings will be in effect in the Małopolska, Silesian, and Opole Voivodeships from Sunday morning until 4:00 PM on Monday. The rest of Poland – with the exception of the northwest – is under a Level I hydrological warning for rapid water level rises. These warnings will also be in effect in these areas from Sunday morning, and at most until Monday.
